On the Footsteps of St. Paul & Glories of Greece

Day 1

Arrival to Thessaloniki

Arrival to Thessaloniki, meeting with our representative and transfer to the hotel.

Day 2

Thessaloniki city tour

Thessaloniki city tour including the Roman Market, theatre and baths, Arch of Galerius, the City walls, Chain Tower and Citadel, the white tower, Byzantine churches, the cave and well of the Apostle Paul, House of Jason, Monastery of Vlattadon, Aristotle’s Square, and statue of Alexander the Great. We also visit the archaeological museum. Afternoon return to the hotel.

Day 3

Excursion to Philippi and Kavala

Today we will have short visit of Kavala city and Philippi ancient sight, where Paul baptized the first Christian on European soil. We see the Baptistery of Lydia, the ancient theater and visit the place where Paul was flogged and imprisoned. Return to Thessaloniki.

Day 4

Veria and Meteora

Transfer to Veria, for a visit at the monument dedicated to the Apostle. Then we continue to Kalabaka to visit the famous monasteries in Meteora. The Monasteries with their wooden galleries and corniced rooftops hang precariously over the breath-taking abysses, with the Pindus range at their back. We return to Kalabaka, for dinner and overnight.

Day 5

Delphi

Morning departure for Delphi, the center of the ancient world – the “Omphalos”. Visit the treasury of the Athenians, the temple of Apollo and the museum containing such masterpieces of ancient Greek sculpture as the bronze Charioteer and the famous athlete Aghias. Continue to the hotel in Athens. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6

Athens city tour

Athens city tour visiting Acropolis, and Aeropagus where Paul preached. Also, the Agora, the House of Parliament, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Presidential Palace.  We then Depart for Corinth with a brief stop at the Corinth Canal. We visit the Archaeological Museum, the Bema, the Market Place and the Temples. Return to Athens for dinner and overnight at our hotel.

Day 7

Athens

Today we have a full day at leisure to pursue personal interests. You may want to visit the Archeological Museum or the Acropolis New Museum. Perhaps a visit to the Plaka to shop or eat in one of the many fine restaurants. Optionally we can organize Greek night with traditional music and dancers.

Day 8

Departure

Transfer to Athens airport and flight back home.
