Day 1

Arrival

Arrival in Athens. Welcome at Athens airport. Transfer to Trikala of Corinth. Overnight at Trikala.

Day 2

Ziria – Feneos Trekking

Τhe area has a large number of trekking trails of amazing beauty and views. Depending of the group capabilities, with the help of our guide, we’ll select one of Varnevo – Flamburiatsa or Feneos – Zarouchla, or a similar one. Then transfer to Kalavryta for overnight.

Note: Alternatively, we can have a 2-day trekking Feneos – Kalavryta, grade moderate

Day 3

Vouraikos Gorge Trekking Kalavryta – Diakofto

The path of Odontotos (Cog railway) is one of the most impressive in Greece.  Apart from its idyllic landscapes that make up the dense vegetation and crystal clear waters of the river, highlight the route is the cave of “the Court” because of stalagmite formations and the “siphon”, a narrower passage of the gorge. You can walk the gorge upwards or downwards. By using the cog railway from Kalavryta to Diakofto and starting the hiking from Diakofto upwards to Kalavryta or vice versa for descending walk. Overnight at Kalavryta.

Day 4

Kalavryta area Trekking

Chelmos and Aroania mountains give us the opportunity to choose a fantastic trail among the many available.

With the help of our guide we can choose:
a) Trail: Kalavryta Ski Center – Waters of Styx
– Elevation: Refuge 2,100 – Neraidorahi 2,341m (Ascent about 430m)
– Duration: 7 hours
– Grade: Difficult
– Highlights: Beautiful landscape views, pine trees forest, Styx waterfalls

b) Trail: Pigeon – Waters of Styx
– Altitude: 1,000 meters Pigeon
– Duration: 3.5 hours
– Grade: Moderate
– Highlights: rare beauty view of Lake Tsivlou (700m) – Styx waterfalls.

c) Trail: Kalavryta – Planitero
– Altitude: 700 m Planitero
– Duration: 6.5 hours
– Grade: Moderate
– Highlights: Unique landscape dominated by old (over century) walnut trees (some trunks up to 4 meters’ diameter) forest and the source of Aroanios river.

Day 5

Mountaineer Arcadia Hiking / Trekking

This day we’ll explore the area of mountaineer Arcadia. We can have a long difficult loop trail or a shorter moderate one.

a) Loop Trail: Dimitsana – Stemnitsa – Lousios Prodromo monastery – Dimitsana
– Altitude: 450 – 1560 m
– Distance: 27,5 km
– Duration: 8 – 9 hours
– Grade: Difficult

b) Trail: Lousios Gorge
– Altitude: 340 – 910 m
– Distance: 8,8 km
– Duration: 3 – 4 hours.
– Grade: Easy / Moderate
– Highlights: Reach fauna, abandoned monastery hermitage carved into
rocks, 2 Monasteries.

Overnight at Dimitsana.

Day 6

Foloi forest Trekking – Olympia

Today we walk in the fantastic oak Foloi forest of 40 000 hectares. Countless trails and forest roads cross the green “carpet”, making zig zag between towering trunks of oak trees, flowered glades and streams gurgle. We’ll follow the forest road to the canyon Erimanthos, next to arched bridges, mills and caves and at the end we’ll be transferred to Olympia for overnight. (Trekking time 4 – 5 hrs). The distance Foloi – ancient Olympia is 25km in total and can be our trail as a whole).

Day 7

Ancient Olympia guided Tour

Guided tour to archaeological site where the first Olympic Games took place in 776 B.C and the museum. Then drive to Kourouta beach for swimming and in the evening return to Athens. Last dinner will be in a tavern, folklore night with Greek food, music, dance and wine.

Day 8

Sounio Tour – Departure

Free morning for shopping in Athens. Afternoon visit of Apollo temple at Sounion and dinner in a restaurant to admire the sun set. Transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
