Highlights: Athens sightseeing with Acropolis and its new museum – Delphi – Meteora – Zagorochoria – Ioannina – Metsovo – Thessaloniki

Morning arrival to Athens Airport. After meeting in the airport, you will be transfer to the heart of Athens where you will have the opportunity to admire Acropolis, the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens, Propylaea, Temple of Athena Nike, Erechtheion, and finally Parthenon – a place any civilized person has to visit. We complete the visit with the New Museum of Acropolis. We will also see Temple of Zeus – chief of the gods. After the meeting with ancient civilization we will visit Athens old town – Plaka. We will finish our tour in Athens with a walk in Ermou street with its fashionable shops. In the afternoon departure to Delphi where we will have dinner in local restaurant and overnight.

Breakfast in the hotel and check out. After leaving from the hotel we will visit the archaeological site of Delphi, the omphalos (Centre) of the world. This is the place where you might get Pythia’s chrism for your future and the future of the world, as many other Kings and Emperors in the past have done. Even Alexander the Great got her advice before conquering the word. We will see also the Stadium and Amphitheatre. After sightseeing we will drive through central Greece to Thessaloniki. Dinner and overnight.

Breakfast in the hotel and check out. Today we’ll see Thessaloniki, visiting the White Tower built in 15th century. From the top of White Tower, we will admire a panoramic view of whole Thessaloniki. We continue our city tour visiting two Byzantine churches. St. Demetrius – main sanctuary dedicated to Saint Demetrius, the patron saint of Thessaloniki, dating from a time when Thessaloniki was the second largest city of the Byzantine Empire and Aghia Sophia – church probably built in early 8th century. Then we continue to archaeological Museum where we will see finds from the Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic and Roman periods, mostly from the city of Thessaloniki but also from the region of Macedonia in general. Then with driving in Macedonia land we arrive to Zagorochoria, a region natural beauty and spots of fantastic views with 46 traditional villages. On the way, we’ll have a short stop at the traditional village of Metsovo. Dinner in local tavern and overnight at Monodendri or Papigo.

Breakfast in the hotel and check out. Today we’ll have a sightseeing in the most beautiful nature of Greece. We’ll see Vikos gorge (mentioned in Guinness book) and Aoos national Park. After these unforgettable meeting with Greek fauna and flora we will continue our trip to Ioannina for a walk next to the lake and to craft local market and visit the small lake island of Kyra Frosini to hear its tragic story. Then drive to central Greece to Meteora. Overnight in Kalambaka.

Breakfast in the hotel and check out. Today will visit two of Byzantine Monasteries standing between earth and the sky atop of huge rocks and containing historical and religious treasures. One of Monasteries which we will see is The Great Meteoron (Monastery of the Transfiguration of Christ) is the highest, largest and oldest of the six monasteries of the Meteora. Founded in the 14th century by a monk from Mount Athos. Afterwards we’ll get the road back to Athens. On the way, we’ll have a short stop at Thermopiles to see Leonida’s monument. Overnight in Athens.

Athens free day for a walk at Plaka, Athens old down, Monastiraki flea market and Ermou str. with its small fashion shops. In the night, we have dinner in a Greek tavern with folklore program, Greek food and Greek dances. Overnight in Athens. Optional in the afternoon, you can have a HD guided tour to Sounion to visit the Poseidon Temple and admire the sun set.
